Story Camp - From Imagination to Publication

This program is designed for aspiring young writers who dream of becoming published authors. Campers will embark on a literary adventure, crafting their own original stories and bringing them to life using the versatile tools of Canva. Campers will dive into the world of self-publishing, turning their creative ideas into a real, bound book they can proudly share with family and friends.

Unlock the imaginative world of storytelling and bring your words to life in this week-long creative writing and computer science course designed for middle school students.

Camp Highlights:

Hands-On Computer Course:

  • Dive into the fundamentals of Canva, a user-friendly design platform.

  • Develop skills in design, graphics, and layout to enhance the visual appeal of your book.

  • Develop skills in illustration and visual storytelling using digital tools to create original artwork

Exploration of Literary Genres and Creative Writing:

  • Engage in the art of storytelling through practicing both fiction and non-fiction genres, including children’s literature, photojournalism, memoirs, and poetry.

  • Practice telling compelling stories using a combination of words and powerful images.

Individualized Learning Environment:

  • Students will benefit from one-on-one writing guidance and constructive feedback to strengthen Language Arts skills.

  • Students will practice the skills of self-expression to build confidence as they mature through middle school and approach high school.
